Many of the blues greats from Mississippi and other parts of the South headed north on Highway 61 towards the hopes of fame and fortune. Two of these "Masters of the Blues" were B.B. King (born Riley B. King from Indianola, Mississippi, 1925) and Muddy Waters (born McKinley Morganfield from Rolling Fork, Mississippi, 1915).
